COACH POSITION DESCRIPTION:
TERM OF APPOINTMENT:
1. Appointment will be for the 2024 junior representative season for Redlands Touch Association (RTA).
2. A review of coaching performances will be conducted at the end of the representative season.
COACHING REQUIREMENTS:
1. If you don’t have a Foundation Coaching Accreditation, then you must enter the next Foundation Course. Contact Jason Hemson on admin@redlandstouch.com.au for more details.
PRIMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:
1. To facilitate and improve the opportunities and performance of players within RTA.
2. To assist in developing and carrying out RTA objectives, strategies and programs.
3. Provide leadership for players, coaches and managers.
4. To be a point of contact for players, parents, coaches, manager and the Junior Coach Director.
5. Direct and provide leadership to assistant coach as required.
6. Develop pathways and opportunities for all players to participate.
7. To work with Junior Coach Director in developing the performance pathways.
8. Help source a team manager, all teams must have a manager.
9. To assist in other coaching roles should it be required. For example, providing guidance and support to other coaches should they require assistance.
10. Collaborate to combine red and green team training sessions for your age group each week.
KEY DUTIES:
1. Liaise with the RTA Board of Management, regarding current policy, code of conduct and other policies and procedures.
2. Talent identification on Friday nights prior to the commencement of junior representative player trials.
3. Assist with club days and club training nights as required.
4. Attend player selection trials dates.
5. Liaise with the selectors regarding selection policy and foundation skills development checklist.
6. Liaise with your assistant coach regarding current policy and performance development.
7. Prepare and implement training programs and ensure coaching is being provided to all players in the team.
8. Liaise and consult with individual squad members relating to their program in the following areas:
• Training
• Selection policies
• Conduct and other player responsibilities
9. Co-ordinate training schedules alongside Coaching Director.
10. Liaise with the Operations Manager and Junior Representative Committee regarding administration matters.
11. Prepare player profiles and provide individual player feedback. This information will be required to also be given to RTA to be held on file.
ISSUES AND CHALLENGES:
1. Ensure a ‘One Club, One Team’ direction and focus on the development of players.
2. Maintain effective communications, both within the team and accompanying members of the team.
3. Understand and respond to the differing needs of the players and coaching staff.
4. Development of players in accordance with the long and short term plan for all club based programs.
CRITERIA FOR POSITION:
1. Minimum of a current Foundation (Level 1) Touch coach accreditation must be held.
2. Demonstrated ability to work within RTA and Touch Football Australia’s “Code of Conduct” guidelines.
3. Demonstrated broad knowledge of Redlands Touch Association policies.
4. Demonstrated good interpersonal relationship skills.
5. Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure whilst still achieving objectives.
6. Demonstrated excellent knowledge of the rules of touch.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:
1. Ability to improve and add to the current skill base as a coach.
2. Improved performance of team members, including support staff.
3. Positive feedback to and from team members.
4. Assistance in the establishment and maintenance of programs for all team members.
4. Assessment of performance by RTA or relevant delegate i.e. Coaching Director.
6. Feedback/evaluation from Coaching Director.
7. Assist in promoting and developing RTA culture and comradery.
8. Success at all carnivals including Junior State Cup.
